The Saga Ends (FRIDAY): A Week in the Minds of the Breakers

Despite the hard work of the Breakers, their labors turned fruitless once again in a disappointing loss to King City. Before the game, the Seniors of the team were honored and celebrated on the field in a lovely ceremony. After this, little was as pleasing in the emotional roller coaster the game provided.

King City struck first, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter, bringing the score to 0-15 (in favor of King City).

Pacific Grove and King City both scored a touchdown before half-time, the score standing 7-22.

After half-time, Juniors Blake Moore and Ben Minik led an offensive charge that gathered three touchdowns for the Breakers. This surge of energy brought the game within one point, but a failed two-point conversion precluded the Breakers from tying the game. King City also scored in this quarter, however, and the Breakers tailed 27-35 at the end of the third quarter.

The Breakers could not contain the offense of King City who scored two touchdowns in the final quarter. The final score was 27-49, cementing a 3-5 (Three Win, Five Loss) record for the Breakers.

Not successful yet again, the Breakers look to push these last two losses behind them and start preparation for Santa Cruz High, who they battle on Friday, October 26. Santa Cruz will be the Breaker’s penultimate game, followed only by the long-anticipated Shoe Game.
