Tennis: Two in One-Both Exciting and Fun

Pacific Grove’s Girls’ Tennis Team added another win to their record on Thursday, October 5th, winning 6-1 against Oakwood. Tianna Battistini played a great match as PG’s first singles. After losing the first set, Tianna came back and won the second, forcing her and her opponent to play a ten-point tiebreaker in order to determine the winner. Coming out on top with a 10-4 tiebreaker score, Tianna told the NewsBreaker, “It was a good match. We had well matched skill levels. There were a lot of good rallies and good shots.” Yuri Suzuki also won her second singles match for Pacific Grove with a score of 6-0 in the first set and 6-3 in the second.

Both the first and second doubles teams left victorious as well, with team captain Becky Phillips and Caroline Coen winning first doubles and Katie Hansen and Sofia Moore taking second doubles. Katie additionally told the NewsBreaker how much she enjoyed her match. “Our match went well. Our opponents were very nice. I love playing with Sofia because we always have so much fun together,” she explained.

Michelle Lee won third singles, 7-6, 6-0, and her twin sister Elizabeth Lee also won her fourth singles match 6-3, 6-2 for PG.

This week, Pacific Grove will be playing Gonzales on Thursday, October 12th. Good luck PG!
